“The Spartakiad is necessary and important, first of all from a sporting point of view” – General Secretary of the VFV

The hopes of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVV) that the Spartakiad would be necessary and important were fully justified, first of all, from a sporting point of view, said the general secretary of the federation. Alexander Yaremenko .

On Sunday, the Tatarstan men’s team defeated the St. Petersburg team 3-0 in the final of the Spartakiad volleyball tournament. The women’s tournament will end on August 27.

– The most important thing I want to say is the words of gratitude to the organizers of this competition, our colleagues. And Kazan, and Novosibirsk, and Kaliningrad, and Tula, which organized and held matches at the highest level. Our hopes that this Spartakiad would be necessary and important were fully justified, first from a sporting point of view. Our top athletes have gained invaluable experience. Before playing these 8 matches in 11 days, I had to go through a fairly long preparation stage of 5 to 6 weeks and take part in very high level matches.

As for the final match, both participants deserved the right to play in this super final, they showed their best qualities. Unfortunately, Petersburg did not play fully. It could have brightened up the final match even more and made the fight brighter and more intense. But we have already seen magnificent volleyball, very bright moments of play. Our level of volleyball is at a truly worthy world level.

When organizing such a global event, it is difficult to do everything 100% perfectly. Therefore, there may be some roughness. But we overcame them and overcame them thanks to our fellow organizers. It’s all been organized at the highest level, including the shows, the hall branding, the fan support, the social media work. In the future, this will greatly affect our general sports level and the popularity of volleyball in Russia.

We expect no less brilliant matches from women’s teams and no less brilliant finals. Therefore, we will continue to follow the evolution of these competitions. During these competitions, our coaches, organizers, gym and club managers had a very good and positive experience under the new conditions. The sporting level of these competitions turned out to be what they expected. It is difficult to assess the importance of these competitions today, but I am sure that it will have a positive impact on our sport and on the national team, and on all athletes. Thank you to all participants, coaches and players for their sincere professional attitude,” Yaremenko told reporters.
