Double Olympic champion Yevgeny Plushenko spoke about the preparation of students of the Angela Plushenko Academy for the pre-season test skates of figure skaters of the Russian junior team.
– We were preparing for the season at our base Angela Plushenko, in Gory-10 near Moscow. We have all the conditions to work, and they are only improving. We have completed the hotel. Now Sonya Titova and Sonya Muravieva live there, housing is free. Athletes don’t have to spend time on the road, they don’t have to travel from home to the rink. Everything is close.
Summer training went as usual. OFP, ice cream. All four of our skaters who arrived in Novogorsk are ready for skating.
Based on the experience of the past year, we have drawn conclusions. Last year, in junior skates, our guys were better prepared than the others. But it is important not only to surprise at the box office, but to competently pass the whole season with dignity, successfully, without injuries. Therefore, this time we will show what has already been developed.
As a choreographer and sliding trainer, we connect Sergey Verbilo. In our team, all specialists are professional, athletes are ready for serious work. And, despite the situation in the world, nothing has changed in our work. Just as worked, and work. We are not talking about changing citizenship, lack of motivation. We are preparing for the Russian stages of the Grand Prix, the competitions that will be. No matter how life turns, I always say to athletes: “It’s all in your hands”, Plushenko quotes the official website of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).
The 39-year-old figure skater announced the opening of the Angela Plushenko Academy in April 2017. It employs around 70 athletes.
Plushenko is a double Olympic champion, double Olympic silver medalist, triple world champion, seven times European champion.
