Fury’s promoter also regrets the fight can’t take place over the winter in the UK
Frank Warrenco-promoter of the WBC champion Tyson Furystated that in order to organize a unification fight with the holder of the WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO heavyweight titles Oleksandr Usyk need a very large royalty fund.
“We had preliminary discussions a couple of months ago and the challenge will be to meet the financial expectations of both guys.”
“Everything will depend on money. In the end, it’s about making this event worthwhile for the guys. They saw money offered to golfers and so on. It’s not golf, it’s much more dangerous, it’s a unique sporting event, it’s a sporting story.”
“The financial offer should be very large because this is the main prize in boxing, the absolute champion title in the heavyweight division. It must be a lot because you have two undefeated fighters and for the first time there will be four belts on the line.”
“The problem for us is that we can’t do it in the UK during the winter. We will have to wait until the end of April, May next year, and I would prefer that it be so. Interest in Saudi Arabia is great. They want to stake out a place in the big box. And in the world of boxing, there is nothing more than a fight for the absolute title.
Earlier, Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krasyuk, denied that the fight with Fury would be held on December 17 in Saudi Arabia. According to him, negotiations are ongoing.
According to the Daily Mail, the venue for the fight will be the capital of Saudi Arabia – Riyadh. The total honorary fund is 125 million pounds. They want to fight on the eve of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.
Immediately after the rematch victory over Joshua Usyk called out WBC champion Tyson Fury to fight. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Usyk defeated Joshua by a split decision of the judges.
