A story of lost time. Veronika Stepanova – on varnished nails and a prince in a white Mercedes

I always write for a specific audience. This column is intended for girls from the age of 12 under conditions.

After the Olympics, almost every mention of my name was accompanied by words like “newbie, young, confident beyond her years.” Why not by age? 21 years is more than enough time to gain self-confidence. Yet I’ve always been like that.

… 10 years ago I was the most ordinary girl, of which there are millions in our country from Kamchatka to Kaliningrad. I went to the nearest school, I jumped into garages (of course, with a “debriefing” at home), I spent hours with other guys building a kind of “neighborhood general” on trees, which were then captured by the “starshaki”. I was also involved in cross-country skiing, where I was immediately blessed with wonderful coaches. I’m usually lucky with coaches, but that’s another story. Could I imagine, in my wildest girlish dreams, that I would spend hours reading tens of thousands of letters of sincere gratitude from strangers?

Only 10 years old… Lucky? Yes, partly lucky: with parents, with coaches, with teachers and with friends. But there is another factor. And here we no longer speak of “lucky”: I have never wasted time in all sorts of “life’s distractions”. She was firmly on target, and anything that distracted or just didn’t help was immediately cut off.

I’m not going to convince anyone of anything, everyone has their own understanding of happiness, and we all remember Pushkin from childhood “You can be a sensible person and think about the beauty of nails.” But this is my column and I want to share my understanding of happiness. In the spirit of “what was it also possible? Box. Saves a lot of time. And money.

Beauty products? Are you sure it’s necessary? What exactly makes you attractive? Skin problems should be treated and not masked. Plus, makeup takes so long! Personally, I don’t. The exception is for official photographs, television interviews, etc. But I will certainly not wear makeup before an important departure. And the fact that some kind of button on the forehead then appears on the screens and the first pages does not bother me at all. As well as those worthy, whose opinion I listen to.

Manicures and pedicures aren’t for me either. Apparently, I didn’t quite understand why. Girls, seriously, does anyone think men look at shellac from our fingers?! So excuse me, I have other data on this, ha!

I have my eyebrows. Eyelashes too. I don’t need lamination, extension, coloring. Thanks to the parents! The lips are also theirs and will remain so.

Spa treatments… I’ve had enough of them during my training (bath, massage). But if someone I trust recommends a useful procedure, I’ll give it a try. The key word is “useful”: in post-workout recovery, sleep improvement, etc.

Clothes and jewelry? It is probably impossible to be completely indifferent to them. Coincidentally, one of the most popular training places for all skiers in the Italian mountains is also a duty-free zone – VAT is not charged there, respectively, everything is 22% cheaper. Italians (and not just Italians) know how to save money, so people from all over head there for trendy clothes “at the best prices”. La commune is a solid store of the same brands that tend to stand out, especially in colleges and high schools. Did I cross them proudly after practice? No, of course – I went in and even bought something. But more out of pride: “Here I am cool! That’s what I realized in my (at that time) 19! It passed quickly.

About some very tough and time-consuming things, like blue hair, piercings and tattoos, I don’t even see the point of talking. We all want to stand out…but you need to stand out by what works for you. For example, muscles.

Yes, not all objects of our attention are like developed biceps and deltoids. But you don’t want to win elections for the price of public sympathy, do you? You want to meet a “prince” at 16. But here’s what I’ve learned about real princes since.

Recently I heard a good line from a friend of theirs: “You used to brag about the rare drinks you drank at the bar, and now how many, where and what kind of triathlons and ski marathons you ran.”

From now on, all the “princes in white Mercedes” spend their time between offices and gyms. I don’t know of any exceptions. They like them to be strong, athletic, neat, “muscles play”. And they expect the same “bow” from their girlfriend. You will also get their attention if you confidently get to know the difference between hypotonic and isotonic, for example, for your bow.

Don’t waste time on expensive entertainment. “Costly” not only in terms of money, but also time. A good friend of mine recently offered me to organize a “Moscow nightlife expedition”. From one trendy nightclub to another in his super beautiful car: hair in the wind and so on. He knows the nightlife well… and she knows him. He wanted to introduce us with the best of intentions. Thank you, that was a sincere offer and I appreciate it! But it’s not really mine. And considering the loss of time for such an excursion, even more so. I’ll get a good night’s sleep, I don’t need the lost details of ‘life of the rich and famous’. As well as you.
