Borodin on the Spartakiad victory: “During swimming I just enjoyed”

European swimming champion Ilya Borodin Speaking to , he expressed his determination to take advantage of the 200-meter swimming complex as part of the Spartakiad, and also shared his expectations for the next stage of the competition.

On Monday, the 19-year-old representative from the Bryansk region won gold in the distance with a score of 1:58.78.

– The result of the end of the season will go, so to speak. It could have been better, but certain circumstances and the end of the season still had an impact.

How did you prepare before swimming?

— Sutra, I passed quickly, passed everyone by more than two and a half seconds. I thought the fight would be in the evening, so I wasn’t really tuned in, just wanted to take advantage of the distance.

– Lots of unexpected results. Anton Chupkov was only third in the 100m breaststroke, although we all expected him to win.

– Competition is intensifying. I think this is good.

– How would you rate your fitness now?

Let’s see what happens at 400 meters. It seems to me that I managed to keep my form from the Friendship Games, it was pretty good there, we’ll see.

The 400m complex is my main distance, a lot of work is going on for that. You just need to have fun on it and then, probably, there will be a good time,” Borodin told .

Swimming competitions within the framework of the All-Russian Spartakiad in summer sports among the strongest athletes are held in St. Petersburg until August 26.
