Three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Ivo Niskanen said that the tactics of combat at international competitions in the 2022/23 season will change due to the possible absence of Russian athletes.
In July, the International Ski Federation (FIS) extended the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under its auspices until the end of the summer season. There is no decision yet for the winter season.
– The tactics of the fight will change somewhat due to the fact that Russian athletes do not participate in competitions. The situation is rather strange now, they are not. Let’s see what happens then, but next season everything will be exactly like that, – Fondo Italia quoted Niskanen as saying.
The first stage of the Cross-Country World Cup will take place in Finland’s Ruka from November 25-27.
