Angelica Sidorova – after winning the Spartakiad: “How can I be happy with the season if it wasn’t?”

Olympic silver medalist in the pole vault Angelique Sidorova said she was unhappy with the season, despite the high results.

On Thursday, Sidorova won the All-Russian Sports Contest for the Strongest with a score of 4.70m.

“I wanted to jump higher, but I can’t fight the hurricane. I was ready for a better result. At 4.85m for sure. Unfortunately it didn’t work out today.

Are you satisfied with the season? Are you kidding? How can I be satisfied with a season if there hasn’t been one? I am satisfied with my result, but not with the season. And after? No idea. Now I’m going on vacation, and then – I don’t know. Will I compete in the winter season? I am not ready to answer these questions,” Sidorova told reporters.

Sidorova owns the best result of this season in the world. At the beginning of August, the 31-year-old athlete won the Russian championship, breaking the bar at a height of 4.91 m.

In March, the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions. The All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) has been temporarily deprived of World Athletics membership since 2015 due to several doping scandals.
