Olympic high jump coach Maria Lasitskene Gennady Gabrilyan, in a conversation with a correspondent, summarized the results of the All-Russian Spartakiad of the Strongest and spoke about the tasks for next season.
On Saturday, Lasitskene won the All-Russian Spartakiad of the Strongest in Athletics, which takes place in Chelyabinsk. The athlete took a height of 2.01 m, which was his best result of the season. In the future, Lasitskene tried three times to overcome the bar at a height of 2.03 m, but was unsuccessful.
Second place was taken by Tatyana Ermachenkova with a result of 1.91 m, third place was taken by Natalya Spiridonova, who overcame the bar at a height of 1.88 m.
Are you happy with how things went today? 2.01 m is an excellent result for Masha.
– As a coach, I am very happy that today’s start was in such a vein. Masha was able to realize her inner reserves, discover herself. She did her best. And even attempts at 2.03 indicated that those heights had been taken. If there were rivals next to Masha who would jump with her, then she may well take 2.03.
– If you briefly summarize the season, how did it go?
We end the season on a positive note. Therefore, with a good mood should come to further education. The Spartakiad showed that we were on the right track. The physical and emotional guidelines that we constantly change from start to finish, given the situation in Russian sport, have been fulfilled. Everything is well done. In other words, you can go on and on.
– What are your goals for the near future?
– My task is to save Masha until the time when our athletes will be allowed to participate in international competitions. Well, do it in such a way that it is fully realized at the psychological beginning. All competitions where there are grateful spectators, their burning eyes, manifestations of love for sports, they are always emotional and bring positive energy to the athletes.
– Do I understand correctly that for Maria the main thing is the emotional component, and that she always has complete order with the physical?
At least I try to keep it that way. But the psychological preparation is in the lead. At the same time, physical conditions must be taken into account in order to achieve internal reserves.
– It was very hot in Chelyabinsk all these days, but it became cooler for Masha’s performance. Did it help to show the best result of the season?
– Sure. When the weather is favorable, it is easier to achieve. The only thing that kept all the athletes off today was a slight breeze. But, here, we can’t go anywhere, everyone is in the same conditions.
