Short course swimming world record holder Kirill Prigoda said the end of the season was intense and he is grateful to his opponents for the fight.
On Wednesday, Prigoda won the 200m breaststroke at the All-Russian Spartakiad of Summer Sports among the strongest athletes in 2022 in St. Petersburg.
– Kirill, was it hard to start at the end of August?
– If they say: “We’ll start again in a month”, I take a time out, after all it’s not easy to hold on for a month and a half. I’m glad I did it, that my opponents did it – I’m grateful to them for the fight. I’m glad it’s all happening at home,” Prigoda told .
“A lot of people miss top competitors. In breaststroke, in that regard, we have a lot of competition.
– Yes, one of the few styles where you won’t be able to start missing international starts, as there are home matchups where you have to show high results.
The swimming tournament as part of the Spartakiad of the strongest will end on August 26.
