“Me and Lyssenko, unfortunately, are not on the best terms” – Ilya Ivanyuk

Bronze medalist at the World High Jump Championships Ilya Ivanyuk in a conversation with journalists, he commented on the results of the All-Russian Spartakiad of the Strongest.

On Sunday, Ivanyuk took fourth place in the Spartakiad with a score of 2.23m, Danil Lysenko won (2.28), Yaroslav Kutkovoy was second (2.26) and Nikita Anishchenkov was third (2.23 ).

– We met Danya at the right time, but, unfortunately, not on the best terms. Of course, I was unlucky at 2.28 – I had to take it on the first try. There was a small technical fault, I tried to fix it: I paid attention to one thing, I forgot the other, in the end I brought it to the third attempt and failed.

It’s not about injuries. I don’t know, maybe sunshine. I then complained to the organizers, saying that there was no point in competing so early. Maybe it worked. But in the end, what is the difference? We are professional athletes, we have to adapt to all conditions.

If I had the chance, I would have organized a few more competitions in an entertaining format: small, exhibition, with music for the public. It would be great to start, to achieve the form, but nothing, we will prepare for the winter, – Ivanyuk told reporters.
