Runner Timanovskaya, expelled from the Tokyo Olympics, received Polish citizenship

Athlete from Belarus Christina Timanovskaya On her social media page, she announced that she had obtained Polish citizenship.

“It is so difficult to keep silent about this for more than a month, but now it makes no sense,” Timanovskaya signed with a photo of the decree on her admission to Polish citizenship.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Timanovskaya was to play for the Belarusian national team in the 100 and 200 meters. However, after two Belarusian runners were withdrawn from a distance of 4 × 400 meters due to the lack of the required number of doping tests, the athlete was decided to participate in this race. The athlete criticized this decision of the coaches and management who, according to her, are trying to correct their poor quality work to the detriment of the athletes.

Soon, the Olympic Committee of Belarus suspended Timanovskaya from participation in the Games “on the conclusion of doctors in connection with the emotional and psychological state.” According to the athlete, pressure was exerted on her and they tried to take her out of Japan to her native country without her consent. The athlete herself declared her desire to seek asylum in Europe and turned to the International Olympic Committee for help.

In June this year, Timanovskaya announced that she had been banned from playing in the Polish league due to her lack of citizenship.
