Elmira Mukhametzyanova, mother of the Russian figure skater Diana Mukhametzyanova announced the end of the professional career of an 18-year-old athlete.

– Well, one door is closed, so it’s time to open another one. Yes, my daughter Diana is leaving the sport! It is his personal conscious decision, which I accept and respect! Point of no return! There is no other way!

There really was emotional abuse, there was a lot of it in my child’s sporting life, Diana cried a sea of tears, only she knows what it cost her.

But this path is beautiful and difficult at the same time. Diana forever etched her name in the history of world junior figure skating. In such a short time, my daughter became the winner and winner of the Rostelecom Cup stages, the winner of the Russian Cup final, the winner of the Grand Prix stage, the silver medalist of the Grand Prix final, the silver medalist of the Youth Olympic Games. For 14 years my daughter fought and won, the fight was so hard, sometimes unbearable, but it was worth it! I thank the Almighty that Diana came out of this situation healthy and full of strength to move forward and develop.

I have infinite respect and I am very proud of my daughter, thanks to her I found my true calling, helping others to become stronger – it’s just mine! My personal experience helps me a lot in working with athletes. Now I know exactly what not to do with athletes, and I will bring it to as many people as possible! My dear daughter, my love, step forward boldly, all doors are open before you! If you managed to conquer the Olympic height at the age of 16, then now you will definitely conquer any height, above all, take it higher and be bolder, and we will always support you! We love you very much and believe in you.

A special thank you to everyone who has been by Diana’s side throughout this journey,” the athlete’s mother wrote on social media.

Mukhametzyanova, paired with Ilya Mironov, won silver at the 2020 Youth Olympics and, in the 2019/20 season, silver at the Junior Grand Prix Final.
