World figure skating champion Maria Butyrskaya commented on the drop in revenue for the International Skating Union (ISU) after the decision to suspend Russian athletes.
Previously, Russian figure skaters were suspended from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
– Everything that happened was easily predictable, because the Russians are leaders in almost all disciplines. I’m not talking about girls at all. Anna Shcherbakova, Alexandra Trusova, Kamila Valieva – people want to support them and pay a lot of money for tickets. We must not forget the programs that our country no longer buys. I think others may also lose the desire to acquire them, since no one is interested in following tournaments without the strongest skaters.
In fact, the whole view has lost its appeal. The Federation tried to annoy us, but only made things worse for itself, – quotes Butyrskaya RT.
