Three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Alexander Bolshunov said the birth of his daughter gave him the motivation to train and show who is the strongest athlete in the world.
On Saturday, Bolshunov announced the birth of a child on social networks. On Sunday, he competed in a star kayak demonstration race as part of the Ageev Brothers Cup and Olympic champions Yuri Postrigay and Alexander Dyachenko in kayaking and canoeing.
How did you come to rowing?
– Yura Postrigay hesitated to me (laughs). He was writing to me and writing to me all the time,” Bolshunov told reporters.
– And how do you row?
– Cool. It’s true that at the start, my crew was a little scared, they started a little hesitant.
Has the birth of a child given you strength?
– The birth of a child must give strength to another. And these competitions are pure fun. After the birth of a child, there are really different emotions, I finally have the right motivation – why I should train and who else I should show who is the strongest athlete in the world.
– What was the child’s name?
— Eve. Eva Alexandrovna.
– That is to say that they didn’t want to call Alexandra?
– Well, I wanted to, of course (laughs). That it was Alexandra the third.
