“Winning competitions with our athletes is what they train for.” Panzhinsky – on the lyrics of Klebo

Victories over Russian athletes are Norwegian skiers’ most serious motivation, says Vancouver-2010 silver medalist Alexander Panjinsky comment on the proposal Johannes Klebo allow the Russians to debut internationally.

Earlier, five-time Olympic champion Klebo said Russian skiers should be allowed to compete internationally “for the common good” because he “always wants to fight the strongest and defeat them”.

– I have already said that Norwegians and other strongest athletes from all over the world want to compete with Russian athletes. Especially in cross-country skiing. The Russian team is one of the main players. And the battle of Bolshunov – Klebo still arouses great interest among fans in the stands and on television. And this rivalry between Russia and Norway generally drives cross-country skiing forward. Yes, Norwegians like to win, but they like to be the strongest in the world and beat the strongest. That’s exactly what Klebo was now broadcasting in his interview: I want to win against the strongest athletes, and the strongest athletes are mostly Russians. Winning competitions with our athletes is what they train for. This is Klebo’s motivation.

I hope that the FIS will try to find a way out of the situation in some form: not to remove the athletes, but, perhaps, to give a neutral status. We hope loyalty to Russian athletes will only grow gradually,” Panzhinsky told .

Previously, Klebo had repeatedly said that the decision to withdraw Russian skiers from international competitions was the right one.
