“There are athletes who want to change sports citizenship, but let’s not talk about it” – Galustyan

Armenian figure skater Anastasia Galustyan wished good luck to figure skater Uliana Shiryaeva, who joined the Canadian team, and also noted that there are athletes who would like to change sport citizenship, but do not talk about it publicly.

Earlier it became known that 15-year-old Shiryaeva moved to Canada, she was allowed to speak at a local tournament.

– She needed some time to gain experience and then judge by some results, after all she had just started playing. However, 15 years for figure skating is already a good age. In this sport and in rhythmic gymnastics, 15-16 years old is a great age, the rest is already a pension. I would like to wish him good luck. The final decision to allow her to compete for Canada has not yet been made, it looks like it should be decided in December, the Figure Skating Federation will raise this issue and then hopefully everything will be fine for her. Of course, there are athletes who want to change their sports citizenship, but let’s not talk about it, but it’s better to wait until they decide to talk about it themselves. Life is one, for athletes it is particularly short. If there is an opportunity, you should always try,” Galustyan said on the show “There is a theme! on the channel.

Shiryaeva won bronze at the Russian Junior Cup in 2021 and also became 11th in the Russian Junior Championship in 2022.
