Ukrainian junior weightlifters will perform for free at the World Championships in Greece

All costs of the Ukrainian youth team were covered by the Greek organizers of the competition.

Ukraine’s junior weightlifting team will start today at the World Championships in Greece. According to the National Olympic Committee, the participation of our athletes became possible thanks to the organizers of the competition.

The fact is, because of the war unleashed by the Putin regime, Ukrainians have no way to participate in the contest. All costs were covered by the Greeks, Lefteris Avgenakis, who heads Greece’s Ministry of Culture and Sports, said in his letter to the NOC.

“Fully understanding the difficult situation in which Ukrainian and Ukrainian athletes find themselves, we will provide your team with accommodation and food during the Junior World Championships. Financial support for your team is the minimum. we can help.

We support you and in our works will confirm this to the Ukrainian people, who are going through incredibly difficult times, ”Avgenakis wrote.

Thus, 13 junior athletes will compete in the World Championships in Heraklion, representing our country in 11 weight categories.

The composition of the Ukrainian national team for the Junior World Championship:

Girls: Svetlana Samulyak (55 kg), Olga Ivzhenko, Alina Zakharchenko (both – 59 kg), Vitaly Filippov (64 kg), Evgenia Rosinskaya (71 kg), Irina Marfula (76 kg), Elvira Borozna (81 kg).

men: Maxim Moskvin, Maxim Dombrovsky (both – 89 kg), Oleg Nikolaenko (96 kg), Nikita Rubanovsky (102 kg), Bogdan Goza (109 kg), Bogdan Taranenko (over 109 kg).
