In the city of Caxias do Sul in Brazil, summer games for the hearing impaired began.
The Ukrainian team won nine awards simultaneously on the first day of the 2021 Summer Deaflympiad competition. It will be recalled that the competition was supposed to be held in December last year, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Already on the first day of the competition with the hearing impaired, Ukrainians presented themselves in three sports – road cycling, swimming and karate. In total, six gold, two silver and one bronze medal were won.
The first victory for Ukraine was brought by a cyclist from the Chernivtsi region Elizaveta Topchanyuk, who was the best in the 1000-meter road race. Notice that our country has never been representative in this discipline.
