Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin visited the Novik Bay rowing base as part of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) sports program and took a demonstration ride in a figure-eight boat, the ministry’s press service reports Russian Sports.
On September 9, rowing competitions in the Olympic boat classes will begin in Novik Bay.
As part of the EEF, Vladivostok also hosted the competitions of the Vladivostok International Rowing Regatta.
In addition, indoor rowing races were held between athletes from Russia, China and Uzbekistan. At a distance of 2000 m, Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Anna Prakaten and world indoor rowing champion Alexander Vyazovkin became the winners.
Matytsin presented medals to the winners during the award ceremony.
