Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Three-time Olympic champion in pair skating, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Irina Rodnina, commented on the reports about the desire of 19 Russian figure skaters to change sports citizenship.
“We don’t know what the names are. The age is unknown. If it’s young guys, it’s the decision of the parents. The team members can change their nationality? Nobody knows. I don’t think there’s some kind of catastrophe,” Rodnina said.
Earlier, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) reported that in the first half of 2022, 19 applications were received from Russian skaters to change sports citizenship. 12 requests have already been satisfied, 7 others will be examined during the FFKKR executive committee in December.
