Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Russian figure skater Sofya Shifrina has decided to change her nationality.
According to RIA Novosti, citing a source, the athlete will play for Israel.
The 13-year-old is currently training at the academy of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko.
At the 2020/21 Russian Championship, Shifrina became 11th among junior skaters in the senior age category.
Recall that at the moment Russian figure skaters cannot participate in international tournaments. It is not yet known when this ban will be lifted.
In 2022, the Beijing Olympics took place. It was won by figure skater Anna Shcherbakova, who trains with Eteri Tutberidze.
