The first medal for Ukraine at the tournament
Ukrainian Andrey Kulik won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championshipwhich takes place in Belgrade.
Kulik, who competes in the category up to 72 kilograms, lost in the first fight to the owner of the competition, Ali Arsalan. However, he managed to get through the repechage bracket, defeating the Hungarian Robert Fritzsch (10:4) and the Lithuanian Kristupas Slava (8:0).
In the fight for bronze, Kulik fought with the Frenchman Ibrahim Ghanem. The fight came out tense, the Ukrainian defeated the opponent with a score of 4:3.
This is the first medal for Ukraine at the World Championships. Recall that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Jean Beleniuk did not go to Belgrade, who considered himself unprepared for the tournament. But at the 2022 World Championships, the silver medalist of the 2020 Olympics Parviz Nasibov, who initially lost to Kulik, but qualified in a different weight category, will perform.
The World Championship in Belgrade takes place from 10 to 18 September.
