President of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFCG) Irina Vigner said in a conversation with a correspondent that she understood the TV channel’s decision not to broadcast the World Cup in Sofia.
Earlier, ‘s general producer Alexander Taschin explained that the channel would not broadcast the 2022 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, because without the Russians the competition would be of interest to too small an audience. The tournament will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria from September 14-18.
– Before that, we saw the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship without our athletes. It was of no interest to anyone. So what is this World Cup for without us? Only China remained. I therefore understand the channel’s decision not to broadcast the tournament in the absence of the Russian gymnasts.
As I have already said, the real world championship takes place in our country at the Spartakiad of the strongest. All the best athletes in the world are gathered here: we have almost two Russian national teams competing, as well as teams from different regions that are stronger than many teams in the world. The first day of the Spartakiad has already passed and an incredible level of performance has been demonstrated there,” Viner told .
Rhythmic gymnastics competitions at the Spartakiad started on September 12 and will last until September 14.
