Yaroslav Filchakov brought to our team the second award of the World Championship held in Serbia.
The Ukrainian national team won the second prize at the World Wrestling Championship held in Belgrade. Yaroslav Filchakov became a bronze medalist of Greco-Roman style competitions.
Our sportsman successfully started the tournament. In the preliminary round of the weight category up to 82 kg, he alternately defeated Denis Horvath from Slovakia (9:0), Sinha Kharprit from India (3:1) and Peyman Soltanmorad Pochtam from Iran (5:2).
However, in the semi-finals, the Ukrainian lost to the future world champion Burhan Akbudak from Turkey (1:5). However, Filchakov did not remain without a medal, as in the match for bronze he won against the Georgian Geli Bolkvadze (3: 1).
It should be noted that the World Championship medal was Filchakov’s first in his career. Let’s also remember that Andrei Kulik won the first medal for our team at the world championship in wrestling.
