Russians and Belarusians will again not be allowed to participate in the Boston Marathon. This was reported to the organizing committee of the race of the Major series. The reason is standard – the aggression of these countries towards Ukraine and the unleashed war in our country.
Athletes from aggressor countries can only return in 2024 under a neutral flag.
“In continuation of the Boston Marathon’s support for Ukraine, residents of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to compete in the Boston Marathon. Citizens of Russia and Belarus who are not currently residents of either country may still compete under neutral that status”.
Remember that the Boston Marathon is considered one of the most famous and prestigious in the world. The decision to remove athletes from aggressor countries was made by the Boston Athletic Association this year. In 2023, the competition will be held on April 17.
