The national team continues to increase their piggy bank at competitions in Belgrade.
The Ukrainian national team continues to win medals at the World Wrestling Championship held in Serbia. On the eve of the piggy bank “blue-yellow” team was filled with two more medals.
The silver was brought by the vice-champion of Europe-2022 Alexandra Homenets. The Ukrainian woman confidently started the competition and won three victories on the way to the finals in the weight category up to 55 kg.
In the fight for gold, Khomenets met Tokyo Olympic champion Mayu Mukaida. Unfortunately, the equal match did not work out. Our athlete was injured, and despite the fact that he decided to continue fighting, he could not make a competition for his famous rival, who lost 0:10.
And then Ilona Prokopevnyuk, competing in the weight category up to 62 kg, won another bronze medal for the Ukrainian team. In the 1/4 finals, our athlete lost to future finalist Nonoki Ozaki. In the bronze medal competition, Ilona defeated the Hungarian, and in the decisive battle she defeated the representative of Kyrgyzstan Aisuluu Tynybekova – 8:7.
Recall that earlier Yaroslav Filchakov brought the bronze medal of the 2022 World Cup in wrestling with the Ukrainian national team.
