Five-time Olympic champion in Norwegian cross-country skiing Johannes Klebo said he would accept any decision of the International Ski Federation (FIS) on the admission of Russians to international competitions.
In March, the International Ski Federation followed the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee and suspended Russians from competitions due to the situation in Ukraine until the end of the season. In July, the ban was extended. The head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, said the FIS is expected to make a decision on the admission of Russian athletes in early October.
– It is clear to everyone that great forces are involved in this issue. There are many opinions on this. Everyone must be given the opportunity to express themselves.
I think we will now have to wait for the FIS to decide. I think it is difficult to take a position on this issue. I was honest before and I still stand by what I originally said. The FIS will now decide. And I will accept it, — quotes the words of Klebo Dagbladet.
