Representatives of the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation refused to go to the international congress organized by the International Federation. The reason is that the FIG has invited Russians and Belarusians to the event.
According to the UFG press service, the Ukrainian side has already sent a letter with a request to remove this dispute. Otherwise, the Ukrainian delegation will not be able to participate in the event.
“The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation considers it unacceptable to sit at the same table and participate in a joint event and discuss sports issues with representatives of a country that, with its aggressive and violent actions, violates to all standards of international law, human rights, the UN Charter, the Olympic Charter, the FIG Charter and Code of Ethics , as well as the henchman country of the aggressor.
The war started and carried out by Russia and Belarus causes untold suffering to every Ukrainian, causes death, disease, destruction, threatens the world order and involves negative consequences that are felt in different parts of the world.
The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation reiterated its position that not only athletes from Russia and Belarus, but also other officials should be excluded from participating in sports events of the International Gymnastics Federation.
Note that earlier the FIG had to postpone the congress. The fact is that in Norwegian Sandefjord they refuse to issue visas and receive delegates from Russia and Belarus. After that, the event was moved to Turkish Istanbul. The Congress will be held on November 11-12.
It will be remembered that earlier Ukrainian judoists announced a boycott of the international federation due to the entry of Russians and Belarusians into the tournament. After that, international officials changed their minds and removed the representatives of the aggressor countries.
