Representatives of Russia and Belarus admitted to the FIG Congress
Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation officially informed International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) about his non-participation in Congress-2022where representatives of Russia and Belarus were admitted.
“The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation considers it unacceptable to sit down at the same table and participate in a joint event and discuss sports issues together with representatives of a country that, with its aggressive and violent actions, violates all norms of international law, human rights, the UN Charter, the Olympic Charter, the FIG Charter and Code of Ethics , as well as the country that is the henchman of the aggressor.”
“The war that Russia and Belarus started and are waging is causing untold suffering to every Ukrainian, brings death, pain, destruction, threatens the world order and entails negative consequences that are felt in different parts of the world.”
“The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation once again declares its position that not only athletes from Russia and Belarus, but also any other officials should be excluded from participating in sports events of the International Gymnastics Federation.”
The FIG Congress is to be held on 11-12 November. The event was moved from Norway to Turkey, as the Norwegian side refused to hold the Congress in the presence of Russians and Belarusians.
Recall that the Ukrainian gymnast Victoria Onoprienko took fourth place in the all-around at the 2022 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships.
