Down-the-line.com / Chess. Russian grandmaster Sergey Karyakin will challenge the decision of the Ethics and Disciplinary Appeals Committee of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The Grand Master himself announced it.

Previously, he was disqualified for six months for supporting a Russian military special operation.

FIDE rejects Karjakin’s appeal

“It was understandable. Unpleasant, but there were no illusions either. Now we are going to appeal to the CAS, there are all the reasons for that. Unfortunately, there too no guarantees, and the chances are not very big, but I’m used to that in life, and in chess you have to fight to the end,” Karjakin said as quoted by TASS.
