Sports Director of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) Yuri Borzakovsky said that the federation is doing everything to popularize the sport and that the Spartakiad makes national athletes more recognizable.
On Thursday, as part of the Russia-Sports Power forum, the session is held: “Russian sports in the new era: how to attract an audience to national competitions”.
– We do everything to popularize athletics, everyone saw that the Chelyabinsk Spartakiad was a great success. One in two people in the country know our athletes. I go to work by public transport, they get on and ask to be photographed, since I have already finished my career.
We created the “Queen of Russian Sports” league so that there would be a selection for the Spartakiad. Each stage was paid for, it’s the first time in history, more than 70 regions were there.
How is the interaction with the local authorities going? It’s a conversation piece, you have to figure out how to address this or that authority,” Borzakovsky said.
The first All-Russian Spartakiad of summer sports in 2022 takes place from August 10 to October 2 between the subjects of Russia among the strongest athletes.
