NASCAR Truck Series driver Jordan Anderson suffered second-degree burns after an accident in Talladega, Alabama, USA.
While driving a Chevrolet Silverado 250 on Saturday, the NASCAR star crashed on lap 19 while in fourth. Anderson’s car caught fire and crashed into a bumper. The pilot was able to get out of the burning car on his own, then was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital.
In a statement posted to social media on Saturday evening, Anderson confirmed that he suffered second-degree burns to his neck, face, right arm, hands and both knees. He also said he would be discharged from the hospital the same day.
“Without a doubt, the hand of God protected me at that time. This is the scariest moment of my racing career. Doctors say everything should heal in a few weeks. I’ll keep everyone updated on the healing process, but I’m just thankful things haven’t gotten worse.
The winner of Saturday’s race was Matt DiBenedetto in a Chevrolet Silverado 250.
