On Saturday, the Classification will be held in two rounds, one for regular drivers and one for guests. The main course will come later. Details.
The 2022 edition of the most important race of the year in TC2000, the 200k of Buenos Aires, is approaching and the format it has is very innovative. For the first time in its history, invited drivers will have a leading role in the race as an unprecedented Qualifying Sprint will be held on Saturday to close the Classification. This addition to the format is important because it will allow the guests to have their own race, it will give points for the championship (with the same scale as the Classification) and as a result it will order the grid of Sunday’s most important race.
According to the Particular Regulations of the Event (RPP) it is detailed that “on the day before the Final event, the Classification event will be held. It will consist of three rounds, called Q1 Headlines, Q2 Guests and a Sprint Qualifier with Guest drivers .
a) Regular drivers participate in Q1.
b) Guest drivers participated in Q2.
c) Invited pilots participate in the Qualifying Sprint.
CHARACTERISTICS OF Q1 HOLDERS AND INVITED Q2 ROUNDS: A sound signal will indicate the start of the qualifying session. A round called Q1 HEADLINES will begin, which will be 15 minutes long. After this and with more than 10 minutes in between, Q2 GUESTS will start, lasting 15 minutes. Whenever a round is interrupted with a red flag, the timing clock is stopped until the problem is resolved, to resume the round for the remaining time. In the event that the disturbance that caused the red flag cannot be resolved in a logical time, the sports commissioner has the power to end the round, provided that 80% of it has been completed.
During the round, the boxes remain open and participants can enter the sector and park in front of their box at 45°. As long as they are parked and time is running, only two (2) members per team will be allowed to work on the vehicle, recognized with the mandatory sleeve provided by Autosports SA. A third member of the team will be given permission to use the blower. Said operator cannot do any other work on the vehicle. During the period when the vehicles are stopped in front of the box, authorized mechanics can only work on: • Tires (change and pressure control). • Rear spoiler regulation. • Glass cleaning. • Cleaning the pipe and air intakes. • Pilot Cooling.
In the event that the vehicle has an engine problem, only the engineers of the Technical Department of the category are authorized to work on solving said inconvenience. While the car is stopped in the pits, adding fluids or fueling is not allowed.
Any violation of the provisions of this article may be penalized, and may lead to the total removal of qualifying hours.
If during the qualifying session, the test is stopped with a red flag, the cars can enter the pits, which are allowed to carry out the work described above. To continue the session, cars or outside help can be pushed to start. From the display of the Red Flag, the taking of hours will end and all time records from this signal will be invalidated. Once the disturbance that caused the stoppage of the round has been resolved, it will restart with a green flag and sound signal.
Any car that generates a Red Flag in the Classification cannot continue to participate in the round, even if it has not received help from the outside. At the end of the set time, the order of completion will be given with the Checkered Flag and sound signal. On the next lap they must enter the pits, the cars will stay in the pit lane at 45°.
QUALIFYING SPRINT: Once the Q1 Starters and Q2 Guests have finished, the Qualifying Sprint will take place for a total of 10 laps in which only invited drivers with a moving start will participate. The result of the Qualifying Sprint will determine the grid of the final competition.
The Qualifying Sprint will award 3 points for first, 2 points for second and 1 point for third.
Ordering of the CLASSIFICATORY SPRINT grid: This will come from the sum of the best records obtained by each pilot member of the binomial in his batch. The result of that total will provide the ranking to form the Qualifying Sprint grid. Binomials that for some reason do not have a record time in either of the two Q’s, will be ordered by the record time they achieved. In case a binomial does not have any time record, it will be placed in the last starting place in the grid. If there is more than one binomial in the same condition, they will be drawn among themselves, to order them in the grid.
The result of the Qualifying Sprint will provide the ranking to form the starting grid of the FINAL TEST”.
