Verstappen one-hundredth of a second ahead of Leclerc for pole position at the Japanese Grand Prix

The final results of the qualification will be known after the analysis of the incident with Norris

Pilot Red Bull Max Verstappen won the qualification Japanese Grand Prix.

The Dutchman in an extremely tight fight ahead of two Ferrari drivers. Charles Leclerc lost him only 0.01 seconds, Carlos Sainz, who became the third, less than 0.05 seconds.

On one of his warm-up laps, Verstappen slowed down before the final bunch of corners, veered sharply to the side, and almost clipped Lando Norris’s car, which was going at high speed and did not expect such a maneuver from the world champion. The episode with the participation of riders will be considered after qualification. Thus, the results of the session are currently considered preliminary and changes are possible on the starting grid.

Verstappen leads the Formula 1 championship, 104 points ahead of Leclerc. The Japanese Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 9 October.
