“If the FIA management were its own masters, it would make sense” – Nifontova on Karjakin’s letter

FIM cross-country world champion, Russian motorcycle racer Anastasia Nifontova told she did not believe in a positive outcome after Dakar champion Sergey Karyakin’s letter to the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Previously, it was announced that to participate in the Dakar, Russian athletes must complete an FIA questionnaire condemning the special operation in Ukraine.

Available to , a letter from Karyakin to the head of the FIA, Mohammed bin Sulayem, has emerged, in which the driver asks to exclude political points from the newspaper due to the fact that the document “contradicts the principles of neutrality.”

– Of course, Seryoga well done. Fight to the last. But looking objectively at the situation in the world as a whole, I understand that it all feels like a dead poultice. It’s in the nature of an athlete to try to do something until victory, to try all possible methods. But if I was talking about this situation from my steeple, I wouldn’t be writing, humiliating myself, walking around and begging, “Well, take us away!” On the other hand, it’s respectful that Serega fights in his own way. It’s just that everyone has their own vision of the world, of the situation. I don’t blame him in any way, he’s awesome.

If the leaders of the FIA were their own masters, that would make sense. But we cannot look at the situation in isolation from society, from the global community, which is putting pressure on everything. Therefore, the FIA president is well aware that he will be eaten alive if he somehow allows the Russians to participate. He was already flying when this letter came out. They wrote to him in the comments: “What are you doing?”. Because the rest of the federation flatly refused, no options. And then they offer to sign a document of participation, that is, there was already some kind of loyalty for Russian athletes. What can I say, Serega is good, but I don’t believe it (laughs).

But it all depends on the political situation. If a miracle happens tomorrow and suddenly everyone makes peace, then yes, anything is possible. But so far the gap is not visible, it depends on what happens,” Nifontova told .
