What the FIA said
Niels Wittich, director of Formula 1 racing, reminded drivers that the International Sporting Code prohibits the use of jewelery and the underwear they wear must be FIA -approved in the event of a fire.

Hamilton’s reaction
For his part, Hamilton was also reactive to the new proposal and wore three watches to the press conference. “I won’t take them off. Next time I’ll wear four watches,” the Briton told the PA news agency.
The FIA insisted that the reason for the regulations was for safety reasons, but Hamilton explained that it was not uncommon to request something like this: “When they told me about the jewelry they told me that safety is above all.
