“The world population is several billion and only 20 people participate in Formula 1. So getting into the top 20 is a great achievement” — First Coach Sirotkina on a student

first coach Sergei Sirotkin Nikolai Vetrov, commenting on the end of a runner’s career by his former ward to , noted that he was not surprised by the athlete’s decision, and also expressed the opinion that Sergey realized from serious achievements in motorsport.

Earlier on Monday, ex-Formula 1 driver Sergey Sirotkin announced he was ending his racing career.

– The decision of Sergei, who is only 27 years old, surprised you?

No, I can’t say it’s unexpected. I would even say that it is predictable. Why? Because now the situation is this: Formula 1 will not come to Russia in the coming years. It is hardly possible to predict the participation of our athletes in international races or anything else. Therefore, I wouldn’t call it any kind of news. 27 is a milestone in the career of an F-1 driver. If before that you make super achievements, then everything can be very good for you later. If not, things may not go very well.

– To what extent has Sergey fulfilled his potential as a runner?

– Well, I arrived in Formula 1. Not everyone succeeds. It takes strength, talent and money. There are several billion people in the world, and only 20 people compete in F-1. Entering the top 20 is therefore already a great achievement. Well, a championship or several titles is already a great achievement.

Are you proud of your student?

Yes, I am happy to have taken a big part in his education and his rise. I prepared him for the junior formula series, we did long and hard tests, we worked a lot. The tests in Myachkovo in 2010 were very serious. Then he left and immediately became the champion of the Italian junior series.
