Audi announces agreement with Sauber to participate in Formula 1 from 2026

German car manufacturer Audi advertised on its website which has chosen Sauber as a strategic partner to participate in Formula 1 and plans to acquire a stake in the Sauber group.

Under the partnership, the Swiss racing team will compete as an Audi factory team from 2026 using a powertrain developed by Audi.

In May, Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess officially confirmed that Audi and Porsche would join Formula 1 as drivers from 2026. In August, media reported that Audi would acquire a 75% stake in Sauber as part of its integration into the racing series.
