21-year-old team academy graduate to become first American in F1 since 2015
American Logan Sargent will partner with Alex Albon in Williams in 2023. The team confirmed the promotion of the rider to the lineup Formula 1.
Sargent is a graduate of Williams Academy. In 2022, the American competed in Formula 2. At the end of the season, Logan finished fourth with 148 points. This was enough to get the Super license, which will allow you to drive in Formula 1.
The 21-year-old Sargent will become the first American in the Royal Races since 2015. We also note that at the end of the 2022 season, Logan was recognized as the best newcomer to Formula 2.
Recall that Nicholas Latifi will leave Williams at the end of 2022, for which he spent three seasons. Previously, the team’s test driver Nick de Vries was named as the main contender for the place of Albon’s partner.
Williams finished last in the F1 Constructors’ Championship at the end of the 2022 season. Alex Albon brought the team four points, Latifi and de Vries earned two more.
