The winner of the 11th stage of the Dakar rally marathon in the truck category is Dutchman Martin van den Brink at the wheel of an Iveco.
His time is 3 hours 39 minutes 52 seconds. The Czech Martin Macik (Iveco) took second place, 18 minutes 8 seconds behind the stage winner. The third was another Dutch representative, Pascal de Bar, at Renault. He lost to van den Brink by 18 minutes and 18 seconds.
The Dutch crew of Janus van Kasteren on the Iveco remains the overall leader. Van den Brink is 1 minute 12 seconds behind him. Previously, the leading crew of Instaforex Loprais Praga led by Alyoš Loprais quit the race after the crew knocked a fan to death during the 9th stage.
On the bikes, during the 11th stage, Argentinian Luciano Benavidez of the Husqvarna team won. He covered the distance in 2 hours 57 minutes 59 seconds. Second place went to Australian Daniel Sanders (GUS), 1 minute 38 seconds behind the winner. Third was another Australian representative, Toby Price (KTM), who lost 1 minute 56 seconds to Benavidez. In the general classification, the American Skyler Howes (Husqvarna) has become the leader, Price is 28 seconds behind him.
In quad, the Brazilian Marcelo Medeiros (Taguatur Racing Team) won the 11th stage. His time on the special is 3 hours 50 minutes 47 seconds. Frenchman Alexandre Giroud (Yamaha) was 6 minutes 9 seconds behind him. Third place went to Argentinian Francisco Moreno Flores (Yamaha), who lost 8 minutes 36 seconds to the winner.
Giroud leads the general classification, 1 hour 20 minutes 23 seconds behind Moreno Flores.
In the touring car category, the crew of Frenchman Sébastien Loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) finished first in stage 11 — 2 hours 56 minutes 14 seconds. Second, Frenchman Guerlain Chichery (Bahrain Raid Xtreme), 2 minutes 16 seconds behind the winner. Matthias Ekström of Sweden (Team Audi Sport) finished third, 2 minutes 26 seconds behind Loeb.
Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Gazoo Racing) leads the general classification, 1 hour 21 minutes and 4 seconds behind Brazilian Lucas Moraes (Overdrive Racing).
The crew of Russian Denis Krotov representing Kyrgyzstan from the X‑Raid Mini JCW team is 22nd (+7:27.26).
Can-am Factory South Racing’s Lithuanian Rokas Batsushka (3:25.13) won the MTB competition on the 11th stage. Pole Eric Gochal (+0.37) is second, and his compatriot Marek Gochal (+2.38) third. Both represent the Energylandia Rally Team. The crew of Saudi Yasser Seydan and Russian sailor Alexei Kuzmich, flying the Emirati flag, finished fifth (+3.35).
Father leads the general classification in front of Eric Gochal by 4 minutes 17 seconds.
The length of the special, covered by the pilots on Thursday, was 273 km. The 2023 Dakar Rally Marathon takes place in Saudi Arabia and will end on January 15.
