Former Formula 1 driver Daniel Kvyat will participate in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2023.
The Russian joined the PREMA team with Italians Andrea Caldarelli, Mirko Bortolotti, Romanian Philip Ugran, Dutchman Bento Viscal. PREMA will enter two crews in the LMP2 category.
“It is a very exciting part of my career to join PREMA and participate in the World Endurance Championship. The team is known for its previous successes, and now they also aim to conquer the world in the WEC. I am very happy to be part of it and very motivated to do my best to take the top places,” Kvyat, 28, was quoted as saying by the team’s press office.
The WEC season will consist of seven stages and will begin on March 11 with a stage in Sebring (USA). The 24 Hours of Le Mans race is scheduled for June 10 and 11.
Kvyat competed in Formula 1 for Red Bull and Alfa Tauri (formerly Toro Rosso) in 2014-2017 and 2019-2020. Currently, he is the most successful participant in the Russian championship, he has three podiums to his credit, the best result in the individual standings is seventh place in 2015. He participated in the NASCAR series last year .
