Sotnikov won the ice race on KAMAZ trucks in Naberezhnye Chelny

Double champion of the Dakar rally marathon in the truck classification Dmitry Sotnikov won ice races on KAMAZ trucks in Naberezhnye Chelny.

Former Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin and Dakar driver Vladimir Vasilyev also took part in the competition.

– In summer there is water, in winter – ice up to 50 centimeters. We did the track ourselves with different categories of turns – steep, smooth, straight sections, it’s a busy track, 5 kilometers, – said Vladimir Chagin, head of the KAMAZ-master team, on the air of the All for the Match! on MatchTV.

– I visited KAMAZ a year and a half ago on a test track, I drove a car there. It is very different from what is here on the ice, – said Mazepin.

“Big jeep, heavier, more powerful. The handling is chic, no worse than that of a passenger car, ”said Sotnikov.

– The car requires control in the drift, it goes sideways. Rear lock, lock in the middle, it is easy to refuel in one turn. It weighs more – 9 tons, it takes a little more than a passenger car, – said RDS GP 2022 champion Arkady Tsaregradtsev.
