Mathieu Baumel, co-driver of racing driver Nasser Al-Attiyah, spoke about the condition of the crew after a serious accident during the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
The car driven by Al-Attiyah rolled over several times during one of the special stages and sustained significant damage. However, the car was able to reach the finish line.
You could say it was a really bad day. Unfortunately today we had an overturned car, the damage cannot be repaired in order to continue to participate in the race in complete safety. We’re sorry, but the important thing is that Nasser and I are okay. Thank you for your messages and support,” Bomel wrote on the social network.
After the finish, the technical steward of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) prevented Al-Attiyah’s car from starting on Thursday due to damage to the roll bar.
