In the standings of the WSK Super Master Series championship, Bondarev takes the fourth position
At the beginning of March, a busy third round of the WSK Super Master Series, the most prestigious WSK series, took place at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno. In the OK Junior category, where Ukrainian karting driver Oleksandr Bondarev competes, 57 best pilots from different parts of the world took part.
On Friday, Alexander took pole position in qualifying, he started first in four heats. In the first hit, Alexander won an unconditional victory. In the second, having started first, the rider held his position, but on the third lap, in competition with the leaders, the Ukrainian pilot slightly lost, and on the seventh, he even became sixth. However, by the finish line he won back positions and completed the race on P2.
The situation in the third and fourth heats was the most interesting: to determine the winner, we even had to use a photo finish. Alexander fought for the leading place with the Swedish pilot Kachinsky, both finished almost simultaneously. According to the results of the last two Hitov, Alexander finished second, and the difference was 0.003 and 0.012 seconds. However, the Ukrainian scored enough points to start from the pole position in the prefinal.
On Saturday, the decisive battle for victory in the prefinal and final took place. Alexander had a great start to the pre-final, but a serious struggle unfolded on the track from the fifth lap. During the rivalry, the pilot lost several positions, winning them back to the finish line and finishing the race sixth. However, even with this result in the prefinal, Alexander scored enough points to start the main battle from the front row.
In the final, the rider started from the second position. Events on the track developed tensely, after a few laps an accident occurred, as a result of which two kart drivers were taken away by an ambulance, because of this incident a restart took place.
Starting from the outer side of the track, at first Alexander lost several positions and ended up fifth, but later he gradually broke through and took second place from the seventh lap. Bondarev broke away from the group of rivals and tried to close the gap with the leader. On the final lap, the Ukrainian made several attempts to overtake, but finished second.
A hard but interesting battle brought the podium to the Ukrainian at this stage of the race. Now in the standings of the championship Bondarev occupies the fourth position. Everything will be decided at the last stage of the race, which will take place in Cremona at the end of April.
