Vice President of the Russian Automobile Federation Sergei Sirotkin said Russian racers have the opportunity to prove themselves in Formula 2 in the current political environment.
– If we talk about our athletes, then we have talented guys, but now they are at a certain stage in their career. By the time they are ready to compete in Formula 1, at least several years will pass. And what will happen in the world at that time, what the political situation is, no one knows. It’s hard to guess. In the current situation, they have the possibility to continue to perform, but not as openly as they would like, in Formula 3, Formula 4 and even Formula 2. There remains the last step. And before that, we still have a number of years, so that either the situation changes or we find some kind of solution,” Sirotkin explained RT.
In February, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) allowed Russian drivers to participate in competitions only in a neutral status.
