Vice President of the Russian Automobile Federation Sergei Sirotkin believes that the main factor in the development of phygital races will be the number of spectators.
The new discipline includes a go-kart race on an ice track and competitions on a computer simulator.
— The digital race is quite an interesting format. I think only lazy people don’t appreciate the quality of the image that can be created in contests. And it’s also a great way to attract new viewers to our species. Since simulation racing still has its audience, and professional motorsport and karting has its own, slightly different audience. It’s great when you can combine everything, make it into a nice show, a picture and show it to a lot of people. From this point of view, we support such orientations as much as possible. We plan to make more.
In general, I think motorsport in the modern world is no longer just about the races themselves and the struggle of the drivers on the track, but also how we can show it to the public. It is important to know how many people will watch the competition. This, it seems to me, may be the main growth factor of our time,” Sirotkin said in an interview with RT.
The International Future Games Tournament in Figital Sports will be held in Kazan from February 23 to March 2, 2024.
