The Russian champion of “Dakar” spoke of a serious accident in the mountains, which could have ended in tragedy

Russian racer and leader of the SNAG Racing team Sergei Karyakin in an interview with , he spoke of a serious accident that occurred during a vacation in the mountains.

Karjakin has won the Silk Road three times and he also won the Dakar Rally marathon in the mountain bike category.

— I’ve been snowmobiling for 15 years, I’ve never broken anything. And then we went to Mamai in Buryatia, the guys decided to rent snowmobiles. On the first day we headed into the mountains – and there was already a serious thaw, clear ice on the slope. Everything ended up destabilizing me. I tried to put the snowmobile on the crossing, but again hit the ice. And the gas tank cap always hit me below the knee, after which it was very swollen. The snowmobile was finally torn from his hands, he rolled down the mountain and crashed into the base of a tree. So much so that the top of the tree was cut off.

The accident is very serious. Thank God he was safe. If he hadn’t jumped from the technique, everything could have ended in tragedy.

It was very uncomfortable in front of the girl they had rented a snowmobile from. He covered all the expenses, no matter how hard it was. But the adventure did not stop there. The second day we went back I told everyone that in 15 years I hadn’t broken a snowmobile and what happened was an accident. This time he was extremely careful, but ended up getting stuck in a mountain river: the edge of the caterpillar turned out to be in wet snow. They started to get the snowmobile out and closed the tunnel. I had to pay again. I was incinerated by the fire from inside, because I, like an idiot, broke two snowmobiles in two days!

The question of money, of course, was. Yet times are not the best – insane prices for spare parts, for new equipment. Thus, the trip to Mamai turned out to be negative, Karyakin told .
