Russian racing driver and founder of the We Ride as One foundation Nikita Mazepin said the athletes had the right to choose, which he was not allowed to do when the contract in Formula 1 was terminated.
— For me, competitions are a place where we can feel safe, support different countries. We all have a choice. When I was suspended from Formula 1, I didn’t have the opportunity to express my opinion, to speak under a neutral flag. This is wrong, – the correspondent of “” reports Mazepin’s words.
The foundation was created to help athletes who, like Mazepin, have been suspended from international competition for non-sporting reasons. Currently, the foundation assists 57 Olympians and Paralympians, providing them with professional psychological and legal support, assistance with career counseling and obtaining higher or special education.
