Nikita Mazepin has announced that he will miss the “Silk Way” marathon rally -2023

Russian racing driver Nikita Mazepin told that he could not participate in the 2023 Silk Way Rally Marathon due to being busy with his charitable foundation.

Mazepin won the off-road vehicle category at the inaugural Silk Way Rally in 2022. The former Formula 1 driver launched the We Perform As One Foundation last year to help athletes who, like Mazepin, have been banned international competition for unsportsmanlike reasons. Currently, the foundation assists 57 Olympians and Paralympians, providing them with professional psychological and legal support, assistance with career counseling and obtaining higher or special education.

– Plans for the summer – work on the direction of the fund, develop it. We have had very good results for the year, I’m proud of that. Unfortunately, I think that this year I will not be able to perform on the Silk Road – I will not be able to spend two weeks there. But I’m still open to cooperation, maybe Seryozha Karyakin will get in touch, we’ll decide something, but so far I’m not planning to go to the Silk Road.

– If all goes well, will we see you on the circuit before the end of the year?

– I hope. In January I played in Dubai, and if possible, repeat something abroad, I will use it with pleasure,” Mazepin told .

The Silk Road will run from July 7 to July 15 on the Kazan-Moscow route. The total race distance will be 5,230 kilometers, including 2,350 kilometers of high-speed special stages.
