Crew Master KAMAZ on to place announced the composition of the crews for the Silk Way Rally 2023.
The team will be represented by five crews – five-time Dakar champion Eduard Nikolaev, two-time Dakar winner Dmitry Sotnikov, Andrey Karginov, Sergey Kupriyanov and China’s Hou Hunning.
Sotnikov and Karginov will drive KAMAZ-435091 sports trucks of the K5 family, Nikolaev’s crew will perform on a new version of the hooded sports truck – KAMAZ-435091K, Kupriyanov’s crew – on a KAMAZ truck using a gas-diesel mixture as fuel. Hunning’s crew included a Chinese Shen Xin and a Russian mechanic Sergey Krenev. Hou Hongning and Shen Xin participated in the 2016 Silk Way Rally.
The Silk Road will be held from July 6 to 15. The route of the rally-raid consists of nine stages and takes place on the territory of Russia with a start in Kazan and an arrival in Moscow. The route will bring together 13 regions of the country. In total, the participants will have to cover 5.2 thousand km, including 2.28 km of special stages.
In 2022, Sotnikov’s crew became the winner of the Silk Road.
